As I was driving home from work on Monday, I was flipping channels on the radio in an attempt to find a good song. When I got to the local 'Mix' station (Does every city have a 'Mix' station now - a station that plays the best hits of the 80s, 90s, and today?) I heard a very strange thing; Nat 'King' Cole was singing And every mother's child is gonna spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly."
"How odd," I thought. "Perhaps it's a request." But then Amy Grant started singing "Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful"
After Amy finished singing, the DJ said "You are listening holiday music all holiday season long on your holiday music mix, 94.1."
Now Christmas is my favorite holiday each year. It may sound odd, but I enjoy going out and doing holiday shopping in a way too crowded mall.
I enjoy that everyone seems to be just a little bit nicer... And I enjoy listening to Christmas music. But on November 7th? Come on. Isn't that pushing it? Not if you ask the good folks at Clear Channel Communications.
So for those of you who are curious as to when the holiday season starts, apparently it's a week after Halloween.
Merry Christmas.
