A Place Where Nobody Dared To Go...

2000-01-07|11:56 p.m.

Have you ever done something that you look back on with embarrassment? Something that you would rather no one else know about?

Well, I have a confession. After reading this entry, I only hope that you will still call me a diaryland friend.

You see... I... Well, I... (sigh) Good lord, this is harder than I thought it would be. Um. I suppose the easiest thing to do is to just go right out and say it.

Growing up, I went to "a place where nobody dared to go, the love that we came to know, They call it Xanadu..."

That is right, growing up, I loved the movie Xanadu.

Most of the reason for this is because I adored Olivia Newton-John. From the moment I saw the movie 'Grease,' I had a huge crush on her.

As a result of that crush, I sat through scenes like this:

and (wow, this really is embarrassing) this

Did I mention that I saw this seventeen times while it was in theaters? (I am not helping myself here, am I?)

Yeah, I admit it, I paid to see this movie more than once. To be honest though, I didn't pay to see the movie seventeen times. (I am not THAT crazy) On Sunday I would walk up to the movie theater with friends or my sisters around noon, and I would watch the movie three or four times.

I am not sure why the movie theater workers never kicked us out. I can only imagine that they felt sorry for the poor kid with the big glasses who showed up every Sunday to watch 'Xanadu.'

If you are interested in finding out more about this movie, feel free to click on the link HERE to read more about it and see the site where I 'borrowed' the Xanadu pictures.

I will leave you with this image...

This is a press photo for the movie... I don't think you can read the text underneath, so I will tell you what it says. "THERE'S GONNA BE A PARTY ALL OF THE WORLD (stars L - R) MICHAEL BECK, GENE KELLY, and OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN perform a dazzling dance number in an outrageous new boutique." (and Bill is a huge loser for seeing this movie seventeen times.)

Yeah, I saw this movie seventeen times in the theater, and I own the video. Oh, did I forget to mention that? Yeah, I own the video too.

I am going to get help. I promise.
