Perhaps someday I will tell you more about me in this space. For now, you just have to learn it by reading my freakin' diary. Now get to it!

Idol and Open Mic

Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2005|8:15 p.m.

American Idol is on... Have you noticed that once they make it past the auditions and into the 'finals,' the judges say the exact same thing for pretty much every performer/performance?

Randy: Yeeeeah! Yo Dawg, you had it goin' on! Yeeeeah!

Paula: Wow, that was the best I have ever seen from you. You really showed everyone what you had.

Simon: If I am being honest, it was just okay. (boos from crowd) No, hear me out. I can't say there was anything phenomenal about that performance at all. (Paula voices her disagreement) No, seriously. It just wasn't great.

What's up with that?

Late last week, Bob's girlfriend and one of her friends participated in an 'open mic' night at a local bar. Bob and I attended.

The have put together an awesome acoustical set with great harmony. They play both original songs as well as covers of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and Indigo Girls.

They did a phenomenal job - and the bar asked them to hang out and do another set, which they were very excited about.

When the 'host' of the open mic night called them back up, he said "Girls, come on back up here and play us something pretty."

This made us wonder what the host said to the guys. For some reason we doubted the words "Make it handsome, fella." ever came out of his mouth.

You may remember from this entry, Bob and I are having issues when it comes to getting older.

It didn't help when we were at the bar for open mic night last week. There were posters hanging all over the bar advertising Budweiser's new beer that contains caffeine and ginseng. The posters all said "Because you can sleep when you are thirty."

We are both now over 30. Apparently, we are too old to be hanging out in bars anymore.

Seacrest out! (damn him for that lame saying...)
